Things to Do in Corrales, New Mexico
Sundays are a great day to visit scenic Corrales, New Mexico. In addition to the Corrales Makers Market and Corrales Growers’ Market, Sunday morning from 9am-noon at the Corrales Recreation Center, check out the following:
The Corrales pool, at the Corrales Recreation Center, is open every day, including Sunday, for open swim from 12:30pm-5:30pm. It has an awesome new play structure and a wide beach entrance for the little ones. Our bosque trails are excellent for walking, biking or you can organize a trail ride with the great horses and people of Red Horse Riding Company.
Shops and Galleries
Perennial Delights offers locally grown plants and container gardens acclimated for our desert climate. They are located just south of the market on Corrales Road and open Sundays from 10am – 5pm.
The Corrales Bosque Gallery has been voted the 3rd best gallery in the Abq Journal’s Reader’s Choice Awards. It is open every day, including Sunday, from 10am – 5pm. The Corrales Bosque Gallery is located in the Mercado de Maya along Corrales Rd, home to some other interesting shops and businesses. Down by the Bistro and Las Ristras (see Restaurants, below), visit the Hanselmann Pottery studio until 8pm. Better yet – call ahead and arrange a studio tour of their small batch stoneware operation. Secondhand Treasures, on Corrales Rd south of the market, is a thrift store operated by Southwest Animal Rescue, is open from 10am-4pm on Sundays and offers another unique shopping experience – for a good cause!
Corrales is home to several unique restaurants where you can have a meal or a drink and sit on a shaded patio with a view. A couple of blocks north of the market, on Corrales Rd, is the iconic Village Pizza which also offers a salad bar and other italian specialties along with wine and beer. A block further to the north, Indigo Crow offers fine dining, a special Sunday brunch menu and daily happy hour from 3-5 and is open until 9. Across the street, Hannah and Nates offers a more casual breakfast and lunch menu and is open until 2pm. Farther to the north on Corrales Road, Las Ristras is open from 9-2 and offers New Mexican Food and steaks. Also in that area is the , Corrales Bistro which is open until 10pm on Sundays and offering burgers, sandwiches and craft brew.
Several wineries in the village offer tastings on some Sundays including Acequia Vineyards, Milagro Vineyards, Corrales Winery and Pasando Tiempo. Check out their websites for special events or look for their signs along Corrales Rd or Loma Larga indicating that their tasting room is open.
